Graduate Student Tips
-
You will take a comprehensive exam
at the end of your studies. Be prepared by keeping the
books from all of your courses and keeping a file of all
of your class notes (make sure you take good notes!),
papers, returned tests, etc. Keep all of these
things until after the MA exam.
-
Meet with your adviser
periodically throughout your program of study to be sure
you are on the right track.
-
Use the graduation checklist to help
you track what you have accomplished and what you still
need to do before you can graduate. See links at right.
-
You are required to show competency
in a second foreign language. If you don't already
have that competency, make sure you set about obtaining
it in a timely manner, over the course of your studies.
Ask your adviser about the different ways you can
fulfill this requirement.
-
Continuous enrollment is required
the semester you plan to graduate. Plan to be
enrolled in a course during the semester of your
graduation. Enroll in Foreign Languages 5899 only
if you are not enrolled in another graduate course.
-
At the beginning of the semester you
plan to graduate, you must complete and submit the MA
Program of Study Form and the Application for
Graduation. Be sure to check the Academic Calendar for
the deadline to submit the application for graduation.
