Wayne Vaught, Associate Dean-Undergraduate Programs  


Wayne Vaught, Associate Dean-Undergraduate ProgramsDr. Vaught received his PhD in philosophy, with a concentration in bioethics, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  He holds a joint appointment between the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine.  Before coming to UMKC in 1998, he taught Allegheny University of the Health Sciences (which is now Drexel College of Medicine).  His primary teaching and research area is bioethics.  He served as Chairman of the Philosophy Department from 2005-2008.  He has been Associate Dean in the College since 2009.

Professor Vaught has published several articles in bioethics.  Recent articles focus on ethical issues in pediatric medicine and complementary and alternative medicine.  He also served as a co-editor with Robert Solomon and Clancy Martin on two anthologies: Morality and the Good Life (McGraw Hill) Ethics Across the Professions (Oxford).
