Professor Carlos Castillo-Chavez is a well-known applied mathematician at Arizona State University. He has won several prestigious awards including the Presidential Faculty Fellowship Award from the National Science Foundation and the Office of the President of the United States. Professor Castillo-Chavez has kindly accepted the invitation by the UMKC Applied Mathematics Group to present his research on mathematical modeling and control strategies to battle the Zika virus. This event is open to the public.

The Integration Bee is a contest for undergraduates and high school students with prizes for the best skills in evaluating indefinite integrals. This event is hosted by the Mathematics & Statistics Graduate Student Organization and Math Club. Everyone is welcome. Whether you are a participant or an audience there will be plenty of snacks and drinks for everyone. This event is part of the activities in the  Math Awareness Month.

Prof. Pawel Góra is an excellent researcher at the Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. His  research area is dynamical systems and ergodic theory. In addition to having had hundreds of papers published, he has co-authored a book titled "Laws of Chaos: Invariant Measures and Dynamical Systems in One Dimension" The  Applied Mathematics Group  has invited Prof. Pawel Góra and please feel free to attend the talk.
