Open to the public on clear Friday* evenings for views of the Moon, planets, star clusters and nebulae.
*(May 1 through Oct 31, and for special astronomical events.)

How does my visit work?

When you arrive, members of the ASKC will have our telescopes pointed at planets, the Moon or other celestial wonders. Every visitor takes turns looking through the eyepiece, and you can stay as long as you like until closing. Feel free to come back every week!

Hours of operation:

Open at dusk (some objects are visible just after sunset when the sky remains somewhat lit).

Close between 10:00pm and 11:00pm (typically close later in the summer and earlier in the Fall).

UMKC Volker Campus, Royall Hall Roof

Access by bridge from parking garage (free parking!) at Rockhill and 52nd St. (map here). The stairwell to the roof is on your immediate left when you enter from the bridge.

16 3/8-inch, hand-made (by Stan Warkoczewski) Newtonian reflector

NEW!14-inch Meade LX200 computerized, Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector plus a Meade Coronado solar telescope mounted piggy-back
