Spring 2012 Psi Chi/Psychology Club meetings will be held every Friday at 3pm in the Psychology Student Lounge at 5030 Cherry Hall, room 329. In the event of a special meeting (i.e. guest speaker) the location will be changed and posted on the bulletin board outside room 329.

WHAT IS PSI CHI?

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests, and who meet the minimum qualifications.

WHAT IS PSYCHOLOGY CLUB?

Psychology Club is the sister organization of Psi Chi. The two groups work closely together to provide valuable opportunities and experiences to their membership. Unlike Psi Chi, Psychology Club membership is free and open to all UMKC Students. If you are not yet qualified to join Psi Chi, or are considering a career or further education in Psychology, we encourage you to join Psychology Club.

WHY JOIN PSI CHI OR PSYCHOLOGY CLUB?

Joining will allow us to keep you updated with all of the UMKC Psi Chi/Psychology Club Activities. We have regular meetings, volunteer opportunities, educational workshops, and other campus activities. It's a great way to get involved on campus and get to know other students! Many members note that the experience and information they gain from involvement in one of our organizations is nearly as important to their continued education and success as coursework. This is, in part, because of the valuable knowledge that is shared between students, allowing an informal mentoring between peers.

WHO CAN JOIN PSI CHI OR PSYCHOLOGY CLUB?

Membership in Psychology Club is free and open to all UMKC Students.
The requirements for joining Psi Chi are:

• Major or Minor in Psychology
• Second-semester sophomore or higher
• 9 credits of psychology courses, 6 @ UMKC.
• One full-time semester (12 credits) @ UMKC
• Minimum UMKC GPA = 3.0 at UMKC
• Minimum Psychology UMKC GPA = 3.2

HOW TO JOIN PSI CHI OR PSYCHOLOGY CLUB?

To Join Psychology Club, submit the Psychology Club Application to the Psi Chi Mailbox at 5030 Cherry St., 3rd Floor.

To Join Psi Chi, submit the following to the Psi Chi Mailbox at 5030 Cherry St., 3rd Floor:

• UMKC Psi Chi Application
• Unofficial copy of you transcript from A & S advising [minors or majors] ( or print a DARS [majors only])
• Cash or Check = $60.00 (make checks payable to “UMKC Psi Chi”) $45 = National dues, $15 = UMKC Psi Chi Dues

I HAVE SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION, NOW WHAT?

Even if you have not submitted an application, you can begin to attend our events and meetings. There is a detailed list this semesters meetings on this page. For more detailed and up-to-date information please join our site on RooGroups.

After your application has been submitted it will be review and you will be informed of your acceptance.
 
Our induction ceremony will be held in the Spring Semester and you will receive a formal invitation as the date approaches.
