The Bernard Osher Reentry Scholarship Program

The Bernard Osher Reentry Scholarship Program is designed to provide students– ideally aged 25 to 50 – whose collegiate studies at a four-year campus were interrupted by circumstances beyond their control, who now want to resume their university studies at a four-year baccalaureate institution.

The program is not intended for transfer students or those seeking an additional degree. It targets students who did not have the opportunity to complete their higher education at earlier stages in their lives.

The Osher Reentry Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to a limited number of undergraduate students who demonstrate the potential for academic success.

Minimum Qualifications

A selection committee will review all applications and evaluate the applications based on the following criteria. Applicants must:

  • Be between the ages of 25 and 50 at the time of application.

  • Be a newly admitted or continuing student (full time: 12 hours) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

  • Have completed a minimum of 30 college credits hours from a four-year institution.

  • Have experienced at least a five-year break in their education from a four-year institution. (Students may have taken courses at the community college during this five-year break. However, students can not have taken more than or equal to 30 college credit hours at the community college level).

  • Demonstrate financial need (students must complete and file a FAFSA at the University of Missouri-Kansas City).

  • Illustrate potential for academic success, by maintaining above a 2.5 GPA in all college course work.
