Welcome to the Academic Advising Website.  This information applies to students who are currently in the College of Arts and Sciences at UMKC.  Other students should contact their own units as information may vary.

 

Academic advisors are a bridge between students, faculty and the entire campus community.  During advising sessions, a developmental approach is used to assist you with academic questions and the decision-making process.  Such topics for discussion include:
 

 

  • class selection and registration

  • general education and degree requirements

  • selecting a major

  • educational and career goal setting

  • locating support services on campus

  • degree audits and graduation status checks

  • review of academic policies and procedures

  • monitoring your academic progress

  • connecting you with faculty on campus

  • dropping/adding courses

  • examining the path to medical, dental or law school

  • reviewing the graduate and professional school application process

  • undergraduate research opportunities
