DEPARTMENT OF ART AND ART HISTORY
ADVISING
All students in the department of Art and Art History are
advised by regular full-time faculty. Two advising periods lasting 1 to
2 weeks each are scheduled during both the Fall and the Winter semesters
and will be announced in the departmental bulletin boards well in
advance. Sign-up sheets are available in the departmental office (FA
205C) and students should check posted up-to-date faculty advisor lists
before signing up for an appointment.
If students fail to
be advised during these arranged advising sessions they may consult
faculty members during posted office hours for late advising. Current
office hours will be posted on this web page and/or faculty office
doors. It should be noted that between semesters (mid-May to mid-August
and during Winter break) advising opportunities are limited as faculty
members are not scheduled for regular office hours. However, some office
hours will be posted and students are urged to call or visit faculty
during these times.
Hand-outs for degree
requirements for majors and minors as well as for graduate degrees
offered by the department are available in FA 205C. However, the office
staff cannot be expected to advise students in academic matters.
Questions regarding
General Education requirements for majors in the College of Art &
Sciences can also be directed to the A&S advising office, 16 Scofield
Hall, Phone: 816-235-1148.
Transfer Students
Transfer students are
required to meet with an Arts & Sciences advisor first to discuss
general education requirements prior to meeting with faculty in the
Department of Art & Art History (16 Scofield Hall, Phone: 816-235-1148).
Student copy of this advising sheet and trancsripts, if available,
should be brought to the departmental advising appointment. Transfer
students may be required to produce portfolios for advanced placement if
articulation agreements have not been set up between prior institution and UMKC. These
agreements can be found at: Course Equivalencies
