JOY D. SWALLOW FAIA, Chair, Associate Professor
Joy holds a master’s of architecture from
the University of Pennsylvania, and a certificate in preservation from the
University of Pennsylvania. She also has a bachelor’s of architecture
from Kansas State University. She practiced in the architectural profession
in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Omaha, NE, and is a registered architect.
Joy is the founding director of Architectural Studies and the chair of the
Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design. She is a member of
the American Institute of Architects and is active in the professional community.
She has served on the Landmarks Commission for the city of Kansas City, Mo.,
for 12 years.
