Why did you choose your major?
After high school, I knew there was only one thing I wanted to do with my life — act — it’s absolutely exhilarating. The thought of spending my life everyday playing make-believe and breathing life into stories for all types of people to see — to me, there is nothing more wonderful than that.
How did your internship prepare you for a career?
I, along with four other classmates, interned at the Fishtank Theater under superb director and mastermind, Heidi Van. We worked as production interns and helped renovate the theater, acted in brand new shorts and plays, and made connections with several local theater professionals from all over the city. Theater is more prominent and aspiring in Kansas City than ever before.
How have your professors encouraged you?
My professors have got to be some of the best in the entire country. I could write an entire essay about Scott Stackhouse. He just sees right to your core, calls you on your excuses and recognizes when you’re putting up a front. He gives you just enough space to discover things on your own and inspires and helps you to grow in ways you couldn’t have on your own.
