Why did you choose your major?
I took Dr. Marte’s social psychology class, and fell in love with sociology and changed my major. I knew that was what I wanted to do.
What excites you about your future?
I’m excited to work with the kids in our community that need the most help and the most love. I’ve always felt that people who don’t have their own voice need someone to be there for them and social work and community advocates can do that.
What do you love about UMKC?
I love that professors are always inviting people from the community to be part of our education. Chancellor Morton always talks about how we are Kansas City’s university; that’s probably my favorite thing about UMKC. It seems like our entire community cares about and loves UMKC and I really appreciate that.
Everyone here wants you to succeed. Almost every professor on campus has time to just sit and talk with you, whether it’s about your life, career, future, or about school. I think that’s an invaluable experience that you can’t get at every university.
