Heather N. Paxton is a native Kansas Citian. She spend a year writing and researching the book
based upon interviews and original sources. She graduated from Columbia College in New York,
and is also the author of The Kansas City Country Club Centennial Book.
The book was a project of the American Royal History Committee, chaired by John A. Dillingham
and including Mary Hunkeler, James W. Leathers, Col. John and Jean Riffle, Melissa Shores, and
B.C. Snidow. The book was underwritten by grants to the American Royal Association from the
Enid and Crosby Kemper Foundation and UMB Bank, n.a. Proceeds from the sale of this book will
benefit the American Royal Metropolitan Scholarship Fund, an endowed education fund for Kansas
City area youth.
