About
the Center
CAPE was created to provide an essential
resource for the University, working professionals and the greater Kansas
City community. The center provides educational opportunities for those
interested in ethical issues in healthcare, the life sciences, business,
government, and the environment.
Faculty at the center are actively involved in research and education and
seek to promote discussions across the campus and throughout the community.
The center provides a wide range of educational opportunities. These include
lectures, seminars, and workshops on various themes in applied and
professional ethics. Most are open to the public. Additionally, the
Philosophy department regularly offers upper division courses in bioethics,
business ethics and environmental ethics. Please check out our News and
Events and Courses for current offerings.
In addition, CAPE Faculty members are available to provide individual
consultation and educational opportunities for local groups, businesses and
organizations. In the past, we have been asked to speak at ethics
committees, government and environmental agencies, and businesses.
