A Growing Trend   Large numbers of children today are victims of one or more of the social ills that plague modern families.  Divorce and remarriage, teen pregnancy, and substance abuse are some of the main reasons these children "fall through the cracks."  These social problems (and others) have caused unprecedented numbers of children to be neglected, abused, and abandoned. In the Metropolitan Kansas City Area alone, a large, growing population of grandparents is raising their grandchild(ren). Many times they find that they have no idea where to go for help. This web site is intended to provide answers to that critical question for every grandparent caregiver: "What now?" Much of the information in this web page is taken from the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Resource Guide for Kansas City, Missouri and Surrounding Areas. The Resource Guide was created by the Grandparents as Parents (GAP) Outreach Program, a joint venture of the Center on Aging Studies at UMKC and the Local Investment  Commission (LINC).
