Class/Interview/Object Project
Drawing from
an in-depth interview with someone about an object that
person cherishes, students write and perform a first-person
narrative that evokes a complex representation of "class". Additionally, students photograph the interviewees with their objects and the interviewees photograph the objects in
any manner they wish. Through this project students problematize how class is typically represented in
mainstream media as they elaborate the many ways in which
class position - and cultural manifestations of class - are
shaped.
