COURSE INFORMATION
Credit Hours: 3
Prerequisites: None
Supplies: Calculator may be helpful.
Textbook: Case, Karl E. and Fair, Ray C. Principles of Macroeconomics, 5th Edition. Upper Saddle River, New
Jersey: Prentice Hall, Inc., 1998.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
1. Four equally weighted tests (some consideration for adjustment on the first test for low grades will be taken).
2. Problems and pop quizzes.
3. Two brief reports. Each report will consist of the student reading and summarizing articles (at least two) over
topics to be assigned in class. Reports should be at least 2 pages in length (typed and double spaced). Each report
should contain the following information on a cover page:
a. Student's name
b. Name, date, and pages of the article
c. Name of the publication.
4. The text requires slow and careful reading with particular attention given to the graphs. Taking notes on the
reading is recommended. Daily reading of a current newspaper such as the Wall Street Journal will help the student
relate the reading in the text to the current economic issues and will increase the student's ability to participate in
class discussion.
5. Spot attendance will be taken. Close calls between grades, a high C or a low B may be determined by class
attendance. This cannot affect you adversely, i.e., if you barely have a B you will not have your grade lowered to a
C. If you have regular attendance that will be considered in moving the C up to a B. Minuses and pluses are not
given.
