COURSE DESCRIPTION: Introduction to financial markets, investment vehicles, and financial principles of investment valuation.

TEXT: Essentials of Investments, Bodie, Kane & Marcus, 1998 edition.

Reading assignments should be completed prior to class.

CURRENT EVENTS: You will present articles in class each weekend on articles pertaining to the course. This includes the first weekend. Any

number of sources is available including The Kansas City Star, NewsWeek, USNews and World Report, Business Week, The Wall Street
Journal, etc.

PAPER: A 5-page paper on Investing in the Global Economy will be due on the third Saturday (10/30). The paper should be double-spaced and
have at least 10 sources of supporting information that are listed in a bibliography. All papers are due on the assigned date.

ATTENDANCE: Absences will seriously limit your ability to achieve satisfactory performance.
