Thinking about becoming an FDC Hosting Site?

If your organization/agency is interested in offering FDC classes please review the documents below, then contact the FDC regional office at (816) 235-2298 to schedule a meeting between your organization/agency and the MidSouth Regional FDC Program staff and start planning to apply for the next MidSouth Regional FDC Facilitators Institute.

Flow Chart - Describes the process that both individuals and agencies go through to obtain an FDC.

Facilitators Institute Application - Fill out this application to apply to the Facilitators Institute.
Book Order Form - Use this form to order books for the Facilitators Institute.

The FDC Facilitators Institute

The MidSouth Regional FDC Facilitators Institute is typically offered annually.  The next Institute will be held June 2008 in Columbia, Missouri.  It is appropriate for seasoned Facilitators who will be delivering the FDC curriculum to attend.  Only those Facilitators who have their application accepted may attend the Institute.

Learning Objectives of the Facilitators Institute - During the four-day Institute led by Missouri FDC Collaboration Manager, Brenda Bone, participants will:
1. Gain in-depth understanding of the family development/family support and empowerment approach;
2. Deepen their knowledge of the skills and competencies that are key to the FDC, through personal experience of the curriculum activities;
3. Sharpen their skills in using the curriculum's interactive/empowering instructional/facilitative methods;
4. Learning ideas for implementing the credentialing program in their community.

Selection of Participants - Institute applicants will be selected based on these selection criteria.  Participants must:
1. Have a clear plan for and commitment to offer the FDC Program.
2. Provide evidence of plans for collaboration with other agencies to implement the FDC Program.  Interagency co-sponsorship and co-facilitation of the FDC curriculum is strongly encouraged.
3. Plan to offer the program to an interagency group of workers.  In-house staff development programs should make at least one of four spaces available for workers or family members from other agencies/systems.
4. Understand and be committed to the strengths-based, family development model.
5. Have previous or current adult education skills and experience.
6. Have earned at least a bachelor's degree.

To apply, please download and complete the Facilitators Institute Application (if you don't have Adobe Acrobat 4.0 or higher, you can download it here).  This application is due at least two weeks prior to the Institute or one month prior to the Institute to take advantage of discounted hotel rates.  If possible, please complete the first page of the application on your computer before printing, and email the application to bkbone@earthlink.net or fax it to (573)438-5574.
