Study Abroad | |
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures offers a variety of study abroad programs in French, German and Spanish. We offer summer study programs from 4-6 weeks in length, as well as semester and year-long exchanges. Many of our summer programs can be taken for 9 credit-hours (6 of which count toward a major). We encourage students to take advantage of our programs and consider them a significant step to earning a degree in foreign languages, whether a minor, BA or MA. The study abroad experience not only greatly improves a student's command and fluency in a language, it is also key to understanding the cultural contexts of the languages we study. So, now that you know the basics about our programs, try this: sit back, relax, close your eyes and picture yourself in another part of the world, speaking your second language, exploring the city, visiting local markets, relaxing amongst your neighbors with a great cup of coffee at an outdoor café, tasting new and exotic dishes--some of the finest cuisine in the world--at a neighborhood restaurant, and doing it all within a glimpse of some of the most remarkable sights and sounds in the world. Venez à Lyon! Lyon, the second largest city and gastronomic capital of France, serves as the backdrop for this study abroad experience. While attending this 6-week summer program, students stay with host families and study at the Centre International d'Etudes Françaises (C.I.E.F.) at the Université Lumière Lyon II. Kommen Sie nach Ingolstadt! This program includes an internship and service learning possibility. The program dates are June 1-31. Students stay with a host family. Ven a Granada! Granada, Spain is the historically and culturally rich location for this 4-week summer program. Students stay with host families while studying at the Centro de Lenguas Modernas at the Universidad de Granada. A variety of weekend excursions are available.
