UMKC Center for the City Faculty Fellow 2003-2004: $1500. Awarded for winning proposal to develop Academic Service-Learning (AS-L) component for winter semester 2004 Geographic Information Systems (GIS) course. 

UMKC Diversity Curriculum Infusion Grant 2003-2004: $1,000. Awarded to implement curriculum enhancement initiatives that promote student understanding of diversity issues during winter semester 2004.

Co-Principal Investigator: UNEP/GRID Project on Satellite-based assessment of environmental change in Africa for the period 1970–2000. Award amount: $60,000 for 10 months (October 2001 – August 2002).
