to the Greater Kansas City Writing Project |
| Established in 1983, the Greater Kansas City Writing Project (GKCWP) is one of nearly 200 university-based National Writing Project sites. We are a K-College community of educators and lifelong learners working in conjunction with the University of Missouri-Kansas City. We seek to improve the teaching of writing and improve learning in our schools. We offer teaching and writing classes for teachers and young people in Kansas City and the surrounding area. |

 Improve student writing abilities Support teachers with resources and a sense of community Support young writers with local workshops Inspire teachers to promote social justice in the classroom Improve communication among urban, suburban, and rural teachers Encourage teachers to see themselves as writers Support local school districts with professional development opportunities Expand the professional and leadership roles of classroom teachers. |
