William B. Ashworth Jr.

Present and Projected Research:

I have been working for the past ten years on a book called Emblematic Imagery of the Scientific Revolution, a study of allegorical scientific illustration of the seventeenth century. The manuscript is virtually complete and almost all of the illustrations have been assembled. I am also under contract to supply two chapters, on "Celestial cartography" and "Selenography," to the forthcoming five-volume History of Cartography being published by the University of Chicago Press.
