Samantha is currently certified to teach secondary mathematics in Missouri, and has been teaching at Park Hill High School since August 2008. She was also a tutor at the Math Resource Center in Fall 2004. Earlier in May of 2004, she visited Australian K-12 classrooms as part of the International Mission on Education. As an undergraduate at UMKC, Samantha was a Trustee's Scholar, a selective scholarship awarded to only 10 freshman each year.
Samantha wrote an expository paper on mathematician Maria Gaetana Agnesi that was published in the 2004-2005 UMKC Sosland Journal and won the Ilus W. Davis Writing Competition in the Advanced category. The paper also later won first place in the 2006 third annual HOMSIGMAA contest. In April 2008, Samantha was awarded the 2007-2008 Graduate Teaching Assistant Superior Teaching Award by the UMKC School of Graduate Studies.
