The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers programs leading to Bachelor's degrees (BA/BS).
Applicants are expected to meet the general requirements for admission to UMKC. See the General Admission Information section of the UMKC catalog.

BA/BS Degree Requirements

For a BA/BS in mathematics, students must first satisfy the general BA/BS degree requirements of the School of Arts and Sciences
as found in the Requirements for a Bachelors Degree section of the UMKC Catalog.
Then students must also satisfy:

Have taken Math 210 (Calculus I), Math 220 (Calculus II), and Math 250 (Calculus III).
Have a minimum of 21 hours of coursework in mathematics at the 300 level or above.
That minimum 21 hours must include Math 300 (Linear Algebra I), Math 402 (Advanced Analysis I),
and one of Math 410 (Modern Algebra) or Math 420 (Linear Algebra II).
At least 4 courses at the 300 level or above must be completed satisfactorily in the department (not as transfer courses.)
Because of the diversity of acceptable programs available, a four-year plan of study is not suggested.
However, students should be aware that many mathematics courses must be taken in a particular sequence.
Students should consult with the Undergraduate Advisor listed above.

Minor in Mathematics

A Minor in Mathematics may be obtained by:

Completing a total of 20 hours of mathematics courses at the 200 level or above,
Including Math 210 (Calculus I), and Math 220 (Calculus II), and
3 courses at the 300 level or above in the department.
(This satisfies the School of Arts and Sciences requirement for at least 9 hours of upper division courses,
as well as the requirement that a minimum of 9 of the 20 hours must be earned at UMKC.)
To have the Mathematics Minor included on your transcript, you must declare the minor. Obtain a Declaration of Major/Minor Form by meeting with the Undergraduate Mathematics Advisor, or with an advisor at the College of Arts & Sciences advising office.
