Mathematics Entrance Tests
in Blackboard

Entrance Tests required for:
Math 110 (College Algebra),
Math 120 (Precalculus),
Math 206 (Brief Calculus & Matrix Algebra), and
Math 210 (Calculus I).

Directions

Before You Start

Once accepted to UMKC, you are assigned an SSO (Single Sign On) user name (the first part of your UMKC email address before the @umkc.edu), and an initial password. You need this information to login to Blackboard.
(If you do not know them, go to: Find your user name and password.)

Login to Blackboard

To access the UMKC online Mathematics Entrance Tests, you must login to Blackboard. On the UMKC Blackboard Site screen, Login with your UMKC user name and password.
Once you login to Blackboard, you are in your own personal “My UMKC” home page.

SELF-ENROLL for the Tests in Blackboard

IF on your "My UMKC" page, under My Courses, you DO NOT see any of the Mathematics Entrance Test "courses", then you must first "SELF-ENROLL for the Tests in Blackboard" as follows:
- Click the "Browse Course Catalog" link.
- At the top of the "Browse Course Catalog" page, in the "Search Catalog" empty box, type "mathematics" (without the quotation marks, of course), and Click the "GO!" button.
- The four (4) "Mathematics Entrance Test" course site names and descriptions will appear, namely, "Mathematics Entrance Test - College Algebra", "Mathematics Entrance Test - Precalculus", "Mathematics Entrance Test - Brief Calculus and Matrix Algebra", and "Mathematics Entrance Test - Calculus I". Click the "Enroll" button next to your choice of Test on the right.
- When the "Self-Enrollment" screen appears, click the "Submit" button. On the next screen, click "OK". That's all!
- Once your submission is accepted, Blackboard sends you directly to that Entrance Test page.
- (If you don't want to take an Entrance Test at this time, you can leave Blackboard by clicking the "logout" icon at the topmost center part of the page, next to the "my UMKC" logo.)

To Take an online Mathematics Entrance Test

IF at the right of your "My UMKC" page, under My Courses, you DO see the Mathematics Entrance Test "course" you desire, then:
- Click that Mathematics Entrance Test "course" name and continue.
  (If this "course" name is not present, you must first SELF-ENROLL for that Test in Blackboard as described above.)
- On the Mathematics Entrance Test page, read the instructions for your choice of Test, then click on it and proceed.
  You have 35 minutes.
