Department of Mathematics and Statistics

Welcome to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics
at the University of Missouri—Kansas City.

Department Overview

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers coursework leading to the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degrees. The graduate degrees we offer are the Master of Science in Mathematics and Statistics degree, with your choice of a concentration in either Mathematics or Statistics, and the department participates in the UMKC School of Graduate Studies Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program.

The department is an institutional member of the AMS (American Mathematical Society).

Surrounded by the UMKC campus is the privately-owned Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering, and Technology, an institution of international prominence, subscribing to more than 700 mathematics and statistics journals, and maintaining a large collection of mathematics and statistics books. Also adjacent to the UMKC campus is the innovative Stowers Institute for Medical Research with whom our faculty have recently collaborated.

From our Department Home Page, see Faculty and Staff and Research for the number and interests of our faculty. Planning for the future shape of the department continues actively. We added two new full-time faculty in each of Fall 2003, Fall 2005, and Fall 2006, and plan to add more faculty as we proceed forward.

From our Department Home Page, also see News and Events for current updates on both our Department and Student achievements. Here's a Campus Map to the Department (PDF Format).

We invite you to browse the rest of our web site (created 12 January 2004) from our Department Home Page for more information about our research and the courses we teach.
