WHO:
The competition is geared toward those who teach the
new, required personal finance course in Missouri or
related subjects, such as social studies, business,
family and consumer science, etc.
WHAT:
For the contest, teams of four high school students each
compete in an online regional qualifier, the top 20
teams in each region are invited to a regional
competition in Kansas City, Springfield, Columbia, or
St. Louis, and the top two teams from each of these
regional competitions are invited to statewide
competition in Jefferson City. At the regional and state
competitions a series of written tests and a quiz bowl
on the concepts of saving, investing, money management,
credit, income, spending and the Federal Reserve.
WHEN:
Informational workshops will be held around the state.
The online qualifier, regional and statewide
competitions will take place in the spring.
WHERE:
Workshops will occur around the state and may include
Chillicothe, Columbia, Kansas City, St. Joseph, St.
Louis, Springfield and Warrensburg. Regional
competitions will be held in Columbia, Kansas City, St.
Louis and Springfield. The state finals will be held in
Jefferson City.
PRIZES:
All teachers and students who attend Regional
competitions will
receive T-shirts and certificates. Regional Winners
(students and teacher) receive series I savings bonds
($500 First Place, $250 Second Place) and State Winners
(students and teacher) receive I-Series Saving Bonds
($1000 First Place, $500 Second Place) and a school
trophy.
