CARUSO GROUP RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS - click for more details.....
The Caruso group operates under experimental condensed matter physics, with a theme centralized about electronic structure. Specifically, we are interested in understanding how electronic structure manifests and mediates the relationship between metallicity and magnetism in a range of solids, from organic-based thin films to bulk refractory semiconductors.
Some of the explicit problems we are now solving include:
(1) whether an "all-carbon" system can be truly metallic
(2) how defects may intrinsic dope semiconductors from hole to electron rich
(3) how the geometry of organic frameworks can be cleverly arranged to allow for non-compensating transition metal moments
