Student Shop Overview
The student machine shop allows UMKC to increase its production ability while offering students the opportunity to train with and use precision machine tools and equipment. Equipped with vertical mills, lathe, saws, and precision measurement equipment, the student machine shop provides everything needed to allow students and staff to complete projects efficiently and effectively.

Machine Shop Courses at MCCBTC
Machine shop training for Physics faculty/students is being offered at the MCCBTC which is just off of Front Street on Universal Ave.
The basic course covers hand tools, drills, saws,sanders, and general shop safety.
The milling course covers safe operation of a milling machine, part setup, and basic feeds and speeds for different materials.
The lathe course covers safe operation of a lathe including; work holding, proper cutting tools, and feeds and speeds.
Both mill and lathe courses require the basic course first. Once a person has confirmation of passing the courses, they will be given keys to the machine(s) they are certified on.
