TEACHING AREAS

My teaching is a two semester course in Mathematical Methods I, II for begining graduate students. I also teach one semester courses in the Introduction to Solid State Physics and Statistical Thermodynamics.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS
My research is the theoretical investigation of the structural, thermodynamic, and mechanical properties of condensed matter. I study the phase transitions in two and three dimensional systems with an emphasis on the physical adsorption of monolayers and multilayers of atoms and molecules on crystalline surfaces. Recent studies involve chemically reactive adsorbates on metal and metal oxide substrates. The computational techniques I use include quantum chemistry, statistical mechanics, lattice dynamics, and computer simulations.

You can see some of the results of my work by clicking here or the research link below.

Here is a power point presentation of Quantum Chemical Methods applied to Chemisorption. (See Surface Science 545 (2003) 1-7 and Surface Science 579 (2005) 107-115.

Another presentation on One-dimensional Disorder and Fluctuations. (See Journal of Statistical Physics 120 (2005) 721-735).
