Graduate ProgramsInterdisciplinary Ph.D. with PsychologyInterdisciplinary Ph.D. FacultyClick the links below for a brief, curriculum vitae and statement of research interests for each faculty. The Psychology Discipline in the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program is administered by the School of Graduate studies. Note: The Psychology discipline is NOT an appropriate choice for those who wish to practice as psychologists or counselors. If this is your interest, please go to the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program web page at http://cas.umkc.edu/psyc/GCPhD.asp for more information. The Psychology Department recognizes that combining the capabilities of Doctoral Faculty in more than one discipline is of great value for certain talented and creative students. For this reason, it is a full participant in the UMKC Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program. This program is for those who want a degree that transcends and hopefully synthesizes the foundational disciplines. Its uniqueness lies in the creation of programs specifically tailored to individualized combinations of student and faculty talents and interests. Students in this program are involved in coursework and research within at least two complimentary disciplines. One is designated the coordinating unit, and the other as a co-discipline. The Psychology discipline may be chosen to fulfill either role. Psychology is appropriate as a coordinating unit for Interdisciplinary Ph.D. study for the exceptional student who has a thorough background in psychology. Psychology is appropriate as a co-discipline for the exceptional student who demonstrates a clear aptitude for graduate study of psychology. More information is available from the Web sites listed below.
