Post-doctoral Research Fellowship
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral fellowship in health psychology. Areas of research opportunity
in health psychology are broad and include smoking behavior, adherence, health disparities,
patient-centered outcomes, patient-provider communication and Motivational Interviewing, HIV and
Multiple Sclerosis. Ongoing research methods and levels of investigation are diverse spanning
cognitive neuroscience, clinical, and community-based research. The Department of Psychology at
UMKC offers a rich setting for collaborative research with funded investigators and partnerships
across schools such as Pharmacy, Nursing, and Medicine. The mentorship team also has strong
collaborations with a number of UMKC affiliated medical facilities as well as the University
of Kansas Medical Center, including the Cancer Center and the Hoglund Brain Imaging Center.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of collaborative
research projects, including developing manuscripts and submitting grant proposals in the area of
health psychology. The position can be tailored to the interests and needs of the candidate.
Primary mentorship will be provided by Delwyn Catley, Ph.D., and Kathy Goggin, Ph.D. The mentorship
team is committed to providing a nurturing and rewarding educational experience that will facilitate
the development of the candidate’s independent research career. Competitive candidates will have a
Ph.D. in a field relevant to health psychology and a strong research background.

Comments
These are term, non-tenure-accruing positions. Appointment periods are for the semester with consideration for reappointment. A flat adjunct salary is determined based on level of educational degree.
