Psych Pool

Why should I participate in research studies?

As students in a behavioral science, all the knowledge that you read about in your textbooks and learn about in courses comes from studies just like those being conducted at UMKC.   Because you are at a research-intensive university, you have the unique opportunity not only to collaborate with faculty to conduct research but to participate in their research projects and learn what it is like on the “other side” of the process.

Many faculty members offer extra credit for research participation.  They keep track of these credits through an online recruitment and tracking system called “Psych Pool” which is described below.   Some of the studies offer financial incentives for participation to compensate you for your time.

Where will I go to complete the studies and what is the time commitment?

Some projects require you to come to one of the faculty labs at 5030 Cherry Hall; other can be completed online?  Some of the studies require a very short period of time whereas other as more involved.  When you log into Psych Pool, you will be be able to read about the studies that are currently recruiting.
