Teaching Philosophy:
“It is easy to say that one of my passions is for teaching, yet
teaching at UMKC has been an overall goal of mine. Having earned
my Master’s degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from UMKC,
I am very enthusiastic about the hard-working student population
here. Further, I very much envision my role as an advocate for each
criminal justice student in realizing his potential. Thankfully,
I was given the privilege to start teaching at UMKC following graduation
and prior to me moving to Cincinnati to begin work on my doctoral
degree. However, I couldn’t wait to return to this school and this
department to start making a contribution.
My expectations in the classroom include:
(1) academic integrity, (2) maintaining a respectful environment
where dynamic perspectives can be exchanged and (3) consistent and
fair assessment of student work. While I certainly expect students
to work hard in my class, you should expect no less from me.
While I maintain office hours, please note
that I keep an open-door policy for all of my students. Do not hesitate
to drop by my office while I am in.”
