Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society

The purpose of Phi Alpha Honor Society is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideas. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.

To be eligible for membership in the Nu Lambda Chapter of the Phi Alpha Honor Society, a student must:

  • Be in their last semester of the MSW program
  • With a GPA of 3.75 or greater
  • Have no unfinished incompletes, or unresolved behavioral allegations, and no academic hearing pending

The cost of membership (cash or check, made payable to UMKC)

  • New members = $38
  • Current members = $23

To apply for membership, submit the application with an unofficial transcript that includes Fall 20xx grades (your last fall semester) to the School of Social Work
