Upcoming Events in the College of Arts & Sciences

  • Epic Escapism (2), Barry Anderson - a single-channel video from 2005, is part of Happy Tree Friends I (or Standing: Tree as Agent, Index, Object of Desire), a group exhibition curated by Kate Hackman. The exhibition opens March 6, at the Urban Culture Project's La Esquina space 6:00-9:00 PM. The exhibition is on view until April 18 with a curator and artist talk on April 3.

  • Always Becoming Something (3), Barry Anderson - a new single-channel HD video commissioned by the Salina Art Center and funded in part by the Salina Arts and Humanities Commission, opens in Salina on March 5, 5:00-7:00 PM. The exhibition will be on view until May 3, 2009. There will be a lecture and workshop given to patrons of the Salina Art Center and students of Kansas Wesleyan University on March 25.

    The video consists of "portraits" of 27 residents of Salina, KS, complied into one seamless continuously looping landscape. It is a continuation of a project begun in 2006 at residency at Light Work in Syracuse, NY.

  • Commemorating the Everyday, Today - Kati Toivanen window installation.  Commissioned by City Center Square, this installation relates to the US Post Office, specifically taking the idea of the postage stamp as inspiration.  Débuts Friday, October 17 and will remain on view for approximately one year (October 2009).  Artwork displayed at City Center Squares north facing window on 12th Street just west of Main, Kansas City, MO
