Mary Ann Wynkoop, Director, American Studies Program, Assistant Professor of History, (B.A. DePauw University, 1965; Master of International Affairs, Columbia University, 1968; M.A., University of Colorado, 1982; Ph.D., Indiana University, 1992). Post World War II American history. Author of
Dissent in the Heartland: Indiana University in the 1960s, Indiana University Press, 2002. Past President, Program Chair, Mid America American Studies Association. I have presented papers at the Peace History Conference, the American Film History Conference,
the Organization of American Historians Conference, and the Women's Studies
Association Conference. I teach courses on the 1960s, American Film, the civil rights movement, and multiculturalism.
I co-directed a National Endowment for the Humanities
Landmarks of American History and Culture Workshop on the UMKC campus summer
of 2008. We hosted 100 teachers from throughout the nation for two
week-long classes on the Kansas and Missouri Border Wars. UMKC will
host the NEH workshops again summer of 2010.
