Faculty Resources
The
Writing Center provides a variety of services to assist your student
writers, including peer tutoring, workshops, and the Writer's Hotline.
Peer Tutoring:
As a writer yourself, you
already know the benefits of peer review and naturally include peer
review in your writing process. The Writing Center can help your
students develop the same habits. Generally, we schedule students for
50-minute, one-to-one consultations and we are happy to work with
students at all stages of the writing process.
You can help the Writing
Center better work with your students by encouraging them to visit the
Writing Center (preferably with the syllabus and/or any pertinent
assignment sheets). One way to do this is to include a blurb out the
Writing Center in your syllabus (download
example).
Often, faculty also request an brief Intro to the Writing Center
workshop, during which a member of the Writing Center staff visits the
class and informs students about our services. You can also suggest that
students utilize the resources available on our website.
Workshops:
The Writing Center gives a
variety of workshops by request. For further information, please visit
our
Request Workshop
page.
Writer's Hotline:
For answers to short writing
questions, your students can call the Writer's Hotline at (816)
235-2244. |
