Understand the World 

  • Our programs develop problem-solving and communication skills, encourage teamwork and foster an understanding of abstract ideas.
  • We have nationally and internationally known faculty who teach using innovative methods
  • Course sizes are small, with 10 to 15 students on average.
  • UMKC offers hundreds of study abroad programs in more than 50 countries, including semester- and year-long options.
  • Our graduates have gone on to work in a variety of fields, including academia, law, business, translation, technology, medicine, education and the applied and performing arts.
  • We offer undergraduate students the possibility of earning a Bachelor of Arts in Languages and Literatures with an emphasis in French, Spanish, International Studies or Classics.
  • We also offer options to complete an 18-credit undergraduate minor in French, German, German Studies or Spanish.
  • Graduate students can choose to complete a Master of Arts in Romance Languages with an emphasis in French or Spanish.
