Biography

Professor Imperiale has been teaching at UMKC since 1991. He specializes in Spanish Golden Age literature, European Renaissance and contemporary literature, linguistics and semiotics.

Education

Louis Imperiale studied in France, Spain, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the United States. He earned his Licence de Lettres (BA) in Grenoble (France), his Master of Arts in San Juan (Puerto Rico) and his Ph.D. at the Catholic University of America (Washington, DC).

Publications

Professor Imperiale has published several books on the Spanish Golden Age and many articles on European writers such as Dante, Juan Ruiz, Don Juan Manuel, Fernando de Rojas, Francisco Quevedo, Francisco Delicado and Miguel de Cervantes among others.

The most recent article, “Humor y laicismo del Libro de Buen Amor a La Lozana Andaluza” was published in Relecturas y nuevos horizontes en los estudios hispánicos, Vol. 1, Literature (poesía y narrativa) (Wydawnictwo, Uniwersytetu Slaskiego, Katowice 2016).
