Linda Kurz began teaching at UMKC, as an adjunct professor, in 1995 and joined the faculty full-time in 1997. Linda teaches courses in Public Speaking, Advanced Public Speaking, Public Speaking for Professionals, Communication Theory and Interpersonal Communication. Linda’s research area is Communication Apprehension. She is currently engaged in a research study to determine if the presence of a therapy animal can help to reduce moderate to severe anxiety in the basic public speaking class. In addition to teaching, Linda serves as the Principal Undergraduate Advisor, Internship Coordinator and Director of the Basic Course for the Department of Communication Studies.
