Dan Mahala is an associate professor of English. His research areas include rhetorical history and theory, critical theory and cultural studies, English education, composition, and history of the discipline. He has published widely on reform movements in English studies. His work has appeared in journals such as College English, JAC, Pre/Text, Writing Program Administration, and The Writing Center Journal. His current teaching focuses on connecting writing and academic inquiry to local environments and to the immediate needs of students and local communities.
