Ramírez-Cisneros’ undergraduate studies were in the field of philosophy and the humanities in his home country of Costa Rica. He received an MA in economics from UMKC in 2015 and has moved on to candidacy for a PhD in economics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. His research interests include the relationship between the state and money systems, development economics, Latin American dependency theory, and hegemony and finance. He is an expert in Latin American football (i.e., ‘soccer’) and has a unique eye for spotting talent. His favorite players are Bryan Ruiz and Alexis Sánchez.
