Biography

Abigail Shaffer has taught a variety of writing-related courses, including creative writing, composition, and now discourse. Shaffer came to UMKC in 2016 and enjoys teaching all forms of writing and focuses her teaching on helping students find their writing voices. She is a member of AWP, an organization dedicated to advancing literary achievement and the art of writing. Shaffer is working on her second novel and developing a reading series podcast featuring the work of established and emerging writers.

In addition to work published in journals such as Crab Creek Review and SLAB Literary Review, Shaffer’s novel Children of the Country was published by Outpost19 in November 2016.
