Paul Tosh has been teaching at UMKC since 2001, and after 12 years in academia, he still has a southern accent. Along with teaching a full range of graphic design and typography courses, he oversees the student graphic design group, Egghead, and is involved with the national and local chapters of AIGA, and a long term member of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Advertising Federation, the Freelance Exchange of Kansas City, the University & College Designers Association and Society of Typographic Aficionados. His graphic design work and teaching focuses on branding design, print, marking communication design, typographic design and traditional and digital illustration. Tosh’s current research interests are vernacular typography and urban art.
Tosh continues his professional design practice through PDG* [*pretty darn good] Design, Crazy Shirley Design(s) and Buzz New Media. Tosh has received local, regional, and national awards for his design and illustration work in his 32 years as a professional artist.
