Hye Young Shin joined the Department of Art & Art History in 2013. She is an art educator and artist whose expertise is in printmaking, drawing, and paper sculpture, which she uses to create a space for shared experiences with viewers. Her artwork has been inviting to present through numerous exhibitions in regional, national, and international venues including Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, H&R Block Artspace, the Studios Inc., PLUG Project, Epsten Gallery, Kansas City Collection program in the Kansas City area and national/international venues including Weatherspoon Art Museum UNC Greensboro, NC; Loveland Fine Art Gallery, CO; Douro Museum, Alijo, Portugal; Il Bisonte Foundation for Printmaking, Florence, Italy; Janet Turner Print Museum, California State University-Chico; Jincheon Museum of Printmaking, Jincheon; Seoul Art Gallery, South Korea; Galerie 21, Köln, Germany; Manifesto Gallery, Cincinnati, OH; New York City Korean Cultural Center, NY; San Francisco State University, CA; Kennedy Museum of Art, Ohio University, Athens, OH, and more. She has invited to outstanding national and international artist in residency programs including the Scuola di Grafica, Venice, Italy, Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT; the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, awarded three-year residency at the Studio Inc., Kansas City, MO; the Proyecto `Ace Artist in Residency program, Bueno Aires, Argentina.
