Biography
Paul Tosh has been teaching at UMKC since 2001, and after nearly twenty years in academia, he still has a southern accent. Along with teaching a full range of graphic design and typography courses, he oversees the student graphic design group, Egghead Design Agency, is involved with the national and local chapters of AIGA, and is a long term member of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Advertising Federation, the Freelance Exchange of Kansas City, the University & College Designers Association and the Society of Typographic Aficionados. His graphic design work and teaching focuses on branding design, print, marking communication design, typographic design, and traditional & digital illustration. Tosh’s current research interests are vernacular typography and urban art.
Tosh continues his professional design practice through PDG* [*pretty darn good] Design, Crazy Shirley Design(s) and Buzz New Media. Tosh has received local, regional, and national awards for his design and illustration work in his 32 years as a professional artist.
