The University of Missouri-Kansas City will host two on-campus events in conjunction with Lest We Forget, an international Holocaust remembrance project.

Lest We Forget is an art exhibit by German-Italian photographer and filmmaker Luigi Toscano, hosted by the National WWI Museum and Memorial and sponsored by Goethe Pop Up Kansas City as part of its “Wunderbar Together Year of Germany.” The exhibit runs Sept. 20 to Oct. 6.

The first event is a showing of the documentary film “Big Sonia” on Sept. 23. “Big Sonia” tells the story of Sonia Warshawski, one of the last remaining Holocaust survivors in Kansas City. She is featured in the Lest We Forget project. Both Warshawski’s daughter, Regina Kort, and Toscano will be present at the screening to answer questions and discuss the similar themes shared by the two projects. This event takes place at 7 pm on Monday, Sept. 23 in the Student Union Theatre, and is free and open to the public.
