Like the major, the minor provides an understanding of some of the structure and content of current philosophical thinking. Students are encouraged to design a course of study that includes both philosophical breadth and some upper-level work in an area of special interest. The minor in philosophy can be an excellent way of adding some extra critical thinking, critical writing and argument skills to the student’s major field of study. A minor in philosophy complements the study of many disciplines, and is also often seen as an asset when applying to professional schools such as Law, Business or Medicine, or to graduate school.
Specific requirements and tools for planning a degree can be found in the UMKC Course Catalog.
