About

Dr. Liana Sega (pronounced Shega) came to UMKC in 2005, after completing postdoctoral positions at the Mathematical Sciences Research Insitute (MSRI) in Berkeley (2002-2003) and Michigan State University (2003-2005). More recently, she was a research member at MSRI in Spring 2013. She is currently the Calculus Coordinator and the Graduate Mathematics M.S. advisor.

Academic Credentials

  • B.S., Mathematics, University of Bucharest, Romania (1997)
  • Ph.D., Mathematics, Purdue University (2002)

Research Interests

Dr. Sega's research is in Commutative Algebra and Homological Algebra. She studies infinite free resolutions of modules over local or graded commutative rings, and associated structures and invariants.
